Bundle of enjoyment we experienced throughout the London & York trip but, nothing is perfect.
Despite we were being warm welcoming by so many hotels we stayed with, we met kind & gentle British, but we still end up with this suck incident.
Our travel area in London mainly in Vauxhall, Leicester Square, Waterloo and Wembley. In York, we stayed a few days at both neighbourhood and city area. Everything was great! Till we back to London again and alighted at Fulham Broadway. Never think that we will meet the racist treat.
1. Staff threw the change onto palm
There is a donut kiosk Krispy Kreme located in the mall when tapped out from Fulham Broadway underground station. The staff lady didn't even wants to serve us when we choosing donuts. When she picked the donuts for us, took our notes, she was then giving back the change by throwing onto my palm. Of course will never expect her to say 'thank you'.
2. Rude security guard at Stamford Bridge Chelsea Stadium
The main entrance area is wide, and there is no specified instruction that you must approach at security guard counter before entering, it's free-walking area.
When we were walking towards hotel direction, the security guard shouted at us, confronted that where we were going to. He rudely commanded us to prove our hotel booking. And answered us everything in a very rude way. Not warm welcoming, all were just shout, fierce, no manners at all.
3. Prejudicial hotel staffs
Staffs at Millennium Copthorne Chelsea hotel had prejudice against us, because we are Chinese? The hotel concierge counter staff did greet other guests when entering, except for us. The staff lady at the check-in counter, she was assisting a caucasian guest before us, she was so kind to the guest for everything until our turn. Changed of her attitude, no smiling, no greeting.
She asked for the passport of both of us, and disdainfully asked the hotel booking is under which passport. Obviously the hotel booking has my name, and it's same as my passport. Isn't it?
Her service attitude changed 180 degree when facing the caucasian guest and us, such a shame.
4. We checked out at 15 minutes later
Precisely it must be too awful for us to stay 2 nights with such a bad environment and rude staffs, we did checked up at about 15 minutes after we checked in the hotel room. The room was completely untouched. The room was dated and looks dirty too.
We were discussing in the room and decided to checked out though we knew there will be no refund.
Proceed to counter and asked for check out, another guy was asking for a reason of our immediate check up. And he directed us to another building to speak with their hotel supervisor Mr. Thomas.
Before this, we decided not to confront any due to worries of any unforeseen dangerous since they all had so much prejudice toward us, Chinese. And so we did not give a reason, just let us check out with no reason.
We gave up 2 nights stay at Millennium Copthorne Chelsea Hotel (about SGD 350 per night) and Stamford Bridge Stadium tour, we did an immediate booking of Hotel Plaza On The River (the first hotel we stayed in London), it was about SGD 900 for 2 nights. Rate was higher compared to first stay due to it was a last minute booking.
But thankfully, we made a correct decision ever. They gave a very warm and kind welcoming as usual, after knowing our bad experience from Millennium Copthorne Chelsea hotel, they upgraded our room to 12th floor executive room. Much appreciated for the effort, Mr. Collins from Plaza On The River.
However, the guest reviews for Millennium Copthorne Chelsea hotel was pretty positive, you will see those comments are from western countries. Probably they are really kind and good towards non-chinese.
We wondering why Fulham Broadway people has so much prejudice against us? Unlike other countries, they actually dislike China people instead of "Chinese". We are from Singapore, and the hotel staffs knew it.
Any Chinese in read, you should have think twice if really want to choose this Millennium Copthorne Chelsea hotel at Fulham Broadway. Otherwise, you may end up with having a bad travel experience or do a last minute expensive hotel booking like us.
