Mommies always get fatigued by night feeding a newborn baby. Newborn baby cries for milk 3 hourly or even anytime less than that. That sound of crying always wake everyone up in the midnight, because mommy/nanny takes some times to make formula milk by keep testing the water temperature, or either to warm up the expressed breast milk by steep it in hot water.
I personally do not feed breast milk at midnight, and husband and I always took some times in testing water temperature for formula milk. And now with the Philips Avent Bottle Warmer, it did expedite the whole progress of making milk, so much helpful especially in the middle of the night.
This bottle warmer does mainly to warm up cold milk/water, to defrost the frozen breast milk, and also to keep your water warm at all times. Turning the switch to the correct icon and get what you want.
1. It has 2 icons of milk bottle, one with lesser milk and another one with more. They are same function and just depends on how many milk to warm up in your bottle. When warming a little milk for newborn baby, just turn it as photo below.
2. For instance, when you knew the next feeding time is on 2-3am, you can fill up the bottle with the amount and temperature that you want for milk. And place it into the warmer, twist the switch to the center as photo below.
However, the icon of keeping warm is actually the one left beside (icon with three lines), but have tried that was unable to keep my warm water at the temperature I want after a few hours.
**Remember that the water in your bottle has to be the temperature you want for milk, and let the warmer to remain it, instead of to let the warmer to make it from room temperature to warm.
With so, we also have a small milk powder dispenser which will already fill up the scoops of milk powder that we want for a bottle of milk. When you wake up while baby is crying, straightly take out your milk bottle from the warmer, quickly mix with the prepared milk powder, it is done!
During day time, I feed my baby with expressed break milk. My own way to defrost it is to take out from freezer and soak the whole milk bag in a pot of water (normal temperature or warm, no hot). It shall be free of frost within 30 minutes something.
When I got a bottle of cold breast milk after defrosted, I will put it into the warmer and twist to the icon of milk bottle with more milk (the last one). The cold breast milk turns warm after a few minutes, you have to monitor this step at the first time to know how many minutes to take to reach the temperature you want.
